CYBER VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN - SUMMARY REPORT
Research Project "Online Violence against Young Women"
The research project "Online Violence against Young Women" was carried out by the University of Ioannina, under the scientific responsibility of Ms. Georgia Gantona, Assistant Professor of Counselling Psychology, aimed at recording and mapping the dimension of the phenomenon of online violence against young women (18-24 years old).
The ultimate goal was to understand the phenomenon and its different aspects and to develop recommendations for improving the institutional response to online violence against young women.
Sub-objectives: (a) to investigate, through the collection and analysis of quantitative and qualitative data, the phenomenon of online violence against young women and to identify the forms of online violence against young women; (b) to explore individual dimensions and factors related to the phenomenon, (c) highlighting the impact on all psychological and social dimensions of young women's lives; (d) exploring the measures taken by women who have experienced cyber violence to address it; and (e) highlighting the difficulties in identifying, reporting and denouncing incidents of cyber violence. In addition, a presentation of the legislative framework of the phenomenon, an exploration of good practices at national and international level to address the phenomenon, and the formulation of recommendations for further addressing the phenomenon.
